NORVIK inc. was founded in 1987 by Jim Di Giglio and André Langlois. These two entrepreneurs were very well-known in the Montréal area, having been very active and visible in selling industrial supplies. Jim had worked for several well-known distributors and had made his mark as a specialist of industrial abrasives (from 1977 to 1987). André had a similar background (from 1967 to 1897), and already possessed enviable experience in the area of cutting tools for machining workshops.
Nothing more was needed for our two partners to start up a business and gain the trust of each of their clients, one by one, by putting all their energy toward fully satisfying the technical and particular needs of their clients.
The company’s mission was quite simple:
To satisfy the needs of their clients for cutting tools and industrial abrasives with products among the top performers in the field; to fulfill the needs of the client and even surpass them. To do this, our two partners worked hard to develop a client service team totally dedicated to its clients’ technical needs, by continually reiterating the principle that “PEOPLE BUY FROM PEOPLE”, in order to ensure that the entire team well understands the prime importance of developing a partnership-type relationship with its clients.
From its very beginnings, the company distributed SECO cutting tools, as well as those of Butterfield-Dormer. Next, the business dedicated itself more particularly to the highly specialized line of ISCAR products, for cutting tools. NORVIK also offered NORTON abrasive products and introduced 3M abrasives in 2001.
In 2006 NORVIK joined the INDICA purchasing group, and remained with them until 2014.
In the same year, NORVIK became associated with LEMIEUX INC. in the Québec City region. This enabled the company all at once to gain access to and benefit from the enviable expertise acquired by LEMIEUX INC. over many years, in the areas of purchasing integration, industrial vending machines and optimized inventory and purchasing management programs.
NORVIK also became a member of IDI INC., the largest grouped purchasing company in industrial supply in Canada. Having joined IDI INC., NORVIK now has access to all industrial products available on the Canadian market, whichever the brand.
This being the case, the company now offers a very complete product range covering all the MRO needs of its clients, as well as a wide range of inventory and purchasing management programs in order to reduce these costs and the cost of managing their purchases.
At NORVIK , we are proud to be part of a large-scale business that is a reference in its field, through its expertise and its ability to respond to quite specific needs on the part of its clients, while fostering continuing training to all of its employees.
